The brand new District Geocaching competition was attended by
five teams from 5th Wigan, 1st Ashton, 3rd Hindley and 16th
Wigan.
Geocaching is an event were using a GPS, map and a set of clues
you must find hidden caches. The caches are each worth different
numbers of points and there will be 5 hours to find as many as
possible. The event will be held between the pike and castle area
of Rivington.

St George's Day Parade was held on Sunday 17th April, a week
earlier than usual, (due to Easter Sunday being on April 24th.)
It was a glorious day, and the Scout section was well
represented having 14 out of the 17 groups from Wigan attending.
There was also a good representation from the Guide Section, who

The 2011
Aqua Madness competition was held at Hindley baths on Saturday 19th
Feb. The event is for members of the Scout and Explorer Scout
sections from around Wigan.
Some of the events were:
Paddling inflatable boats from one end to the other placing a
ball in a bucket suspended on a rope above the water at each
pass
Finding a number of balls of the same colour ad getting them
back to shore
Ferries - a tag team event moving all the team members from one

This years First Aid Competition took place on Sunday 30th Jan.
Three teams from the district entered the afternoon event which
consisted of scenarios spread around the District HQ for the Scout
teams to deal with.
The event organiser, Steve Gray, had arranged for professional
first aid trainer Ed Ellis of Trainging2All to attend. Ed brought

11th - 13th June 2010
The
District Camp in the heat of a hot weekend in June and what a
weekend it was! There were over 200 members of the District camping
and with the Beavers visiting for the day on the Saturday there was
over 300 members of the District present all having a lot of
