Cubjam 2016
Cubjam 2016 – Gilwell Park
At the end of May in the school half term holidays, 35 Cub Scouts from Wigan Ashton and Abram travelled to Gilwell Park to attend Cubjam, a week long jamboree styled event for cubs. It was a Wild West themed camp aiming to give the cubs a taste of the adventure that lies ahead in their scouting life.
They had the chance to try many new and exciting activities as well as the tried and tested ones that they knew so well. It took them a little while to realise that they were free to roam the site and after a day or so they were all confident enough to disappear between mealtimes. The cubs had a day off site on the Wednesday and all enjoyed the trip to Whipsnade zoo.
We were lucky enough to be chosen with 1 other cub pack to meet Steve Backshall and on the Thursday afternoon we dressed up in our cavalry finest and marched down to the lid to meet him for photos while he cut the Cubs100 celebration cake made from Lego).
The carnival parade followed later in the afternoon and after our birthday picnic we all got changed and headed for the on-site fair and after the last night at camp the cubs headed home on the Friday.
Another great memory maker for the cubs and leaders alike!
